Inspection & Testing

Cable Inspection & Testing Services Perth

Test and tagging is a generic name given to the process of visually inspecting and electrically testing in-service electrical equipment for personal safety.

The aim of test and tagging is to determine if the appliance is electrically safe for use. The appliance undergoes a visual inspection for defects such as damage or missing components and a number of electrical tests to measure earth continuity, insulation resistance and polarity.

In Australia, this is done using the Standard; AS/NZS 3760:2010 “In-service inspection and testing of electrical equipment” as a reference document.

Electrical safety and regular inspections of your electrical tools, appliances, power leads, extension leads and all other workplace and home electrical equipment are not to be taken lightly.

The method is as follows:

Visual Inspection

Our experts carry out a thorough visual inspection of all items to be test and tagged to check for any faults that may render them hazardous and unsafe to use.

We have an up to date range of Fibre Optic termination and testing equipment essential to certifying projects and fault finding on existing sites.

Testing

Once our experts have identified which test should be applied to a particular piece of equipment, it is plugged into our specialist tester and the appropriate test is then run. Item details and the results are electronically recorded to the pat tester’s internal memory. The tag is then dispensed from our automatic printer containing all relevant information.

Tagging

A tag is then applied to any equipment that passes the testing procedures, clearly identifying that the items are safe to use. It also clearly indicates the next test date.

Downloading and Reporting

All data is then downloaded and customer reports are generated and either sent electronically via email or hard copy.

Our software will then remind us when any items are due for retest and we will contact you to make a convenient appointment to carry the retesting out.
